What is Handmade soap?

As the name suggests, soap artisans carefully make small amounts of soap. Only natural, high-quality products are used in the production of these soaps. We use pure ingredients like Glycerin, essential oils, clays and teas to create unique, natural formulas. Skin-friendly and safe, it's the perfect gift for any occasion.

What are the benefits of Handmade soap?

1. Glycerine

Handmade soap is known to contain GlycerinGlycerin. Glycerin is a natural emollient that helps the skin absorb environmental moisture. For this reason, GlycerinGlycerin is used in creams, lotions, and soaps. Because GlycerinGlycerin is a by-product of the soap-making process, it is not retained in many commercial soaps. In handmade soap, GlycerinGlycerin is contained and reused as a natural lotion for the skin.

2. Natural products

Handmade soap uses various natural ingredients to create rich and unique formulas. First and foremost, our handmade soaps use pure essential oils, clays, botanical oils and body butter rich in antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients to maintain healthy skin. Essential oils are added during the process for their fragrance and therapeutic properties. Clay is sometimes used with oils and butter to create custom-made luxury soaps.

3. Therapeutic Properties

Essential oils, butter and clays added to soaps contain unique therapeutic properties. Vanilla and lavender, for example, are calming and help you relax from within. Tea tree essence reduces blemishes and dirt on your skin. Balances skin's pH levels to keep it healthy and happy.

4. Vocal for local

Most handmade soap companies start as small businesses. Soap makers and formulators do the end-to-end work of manufacturing, packaging, and promoting products and brands. You can pay quite a lot. It may help them, and recognizing their hard work will help them thrive and grow. It is necessary to do something locally, especially if you want to promote sustainability.

5. Eco-friendly and gentle

Handmade soap uses natural and organic materials, which are gentle on the skin and the environment. Most soaps on the market today contain harsh chemicals such as sodium sulfate and sodium lauryl sulfate. They strip your skin of its natural oils and moisture, leaving it dry and irritated. These chemicals ultimately contaminate water resources. Therefore, aquatic life is destroyed. The natural ingredients in handmade soaps such as lethal, broom and clay are best for your skin because of their known properties. They are honest and, therefore, better for the environment.

After years in business, the most common questions we hear remain. “Why is natural soap good?” I have used only natural soaps on my face and body for over 20 years. It was the first product I learned to make. My skin has gotten so used to the benefits of these beautiful bars that something else makes my skin itchy. Our handmade soap bars will take you anywhere. I carry disposable trash in my purse for use in public restrooms!

1.    Handmade Natural Soap is Soap

As you walk through the aisles of any supermarket or drugstore, you'll see a variety of body cleansers labelled body bars, skincare bars, deodorant soaps, body washes, cleansing bars, and even beauty bars. They are detergents in disguise. Most soaps you buy today are chemical cocktails of commercially manufactured ingredients.

2.    Natural Soap is Made With Natural Ingredients:

The most important reason to use handmade soap is its ingredients. The quality of a product depends on the quality of the raw materials that make it up. Each soap bar recipe begins with a unique blend of nutrient-rich, skin-nourishing certified organic oils. We use the more expensive organic virgin unrefined oils and butter whenever possible.

From mairaaki, you can get the best handmade soap. There are also various beds and mattresses available. The bed frames include Ambassador beds, panel beds, wingback beds and Arizona beds. We also have various mattresses according to various sleeping conditions. Visit us now or dial +447476451656.

Inspired by our love of gardening, we add a variety of organic butter, refined natural clays, spices, flowers, vegetables, organic herbs, seeds, grains, fruits, chocolate and pure botanical essential oils. It provides an innate sense making each bar unique. It has colour, aromatherapy, texture and gentle exfoliation. Our handmade soaps are in small batches from natural ingredients such as pure vegetable oils, oats, honey and goat's milk.

3.    Natural soap is not made with:

Our soap bars contain only the ingredients you need - no added preservatives, no added preservatives, and no added foaming ingredients that liquid body washes and commercial "soaps" need to extend their shelf life for years. It does not contain foaming agents.

Ø Natural soaps contain:

  • No Synthetic Ingredients
  • No artificial flavours or perfumes
  • No Artificial Colors
  • No detergent
  • No synthetic preservatives

Commercial bar soaps and those marketed as "natural" are also syndet bars. Syndet is a portmanteau of the words "synthetic" and "detergent". Note that many new shampoo bars on the market are syndets and not natural soap-based shampoos. Even with the products they advertise, these ingredients are refined to the point that they don't provide the "advertised" skincare benefits.

4.    Natural Soaps Are Moisturizing

Unfortunately, many people believe that bar soap dries out the skin. The problem is that most commercial "soaps" are detergents, not natural.

3 Main Reasons Natural Soap Moisturizes.

Ø Natural Soaps are a product of Plant Oils and Butters

Natural soaps made with pure natural ingredients are rarely seen nowadays. The harsh detergents in commercial soaps may be great for dishes and laundry, but they dry out the skin and strip it of its natural oils, which contribute to irritated skin conditions like eczema.

Ø Natural Soaps are Superfatted

Our soap bars are formulated with a lot of vegetable oils and butter in a process called "defatting". Superfatting is adding extra fat (oil or butter) when developing soap recipes so that there is more fat in the mixture than the lye can react to during the chemical reaction. The process leaves unincorporated oils in the finished soap and ensures our natural soap bars have excellent moisturizing and flexibility properties.

5.    Natural Soaps retain their natural Glycerin.

Glycerin is not added to natural handmade soap recipes - it is created during the handmade soap-making process! The chemical reaction in making soap is called saponification. Once saponification is complete, the ingredients combine and chemically transform into soap, GlycerinGlycerin, and water. A precious and gentle emollient, GlycerinGlycerin attracts moisture from the air to the skin, creating a moisturizing protective layer. It's a moisturizer.

Commercial soap companies remove the moisturizing ingredient (Glycerin), make soaps that dry out the skin, and use the removed GlycerinGlycerin to sell skin moisturizing lotions. Soaps without GlycerinGlycerin can be drying and often cause itchiness. The handcrafted soap retains all of the natural GlycerinGlycerin for its moisturizing properties and helps create a rich, luxurious lather.

6.    Scented handmade soap provides authentic aromatherapy.

Scented handmade soap is made from pure essential oils rather than aromatic oils to provide aromatherapy benefits. Essential oils have more than just a scent. Step into the bath or shower and take a deep breath. The benefits of aromatherapy can help with everything from reducing stress to revitalizing your mind. Fragrance oils are artificial and do not offer the therapeutic benefits of essential oils, even those derived from natural ingredients. Synthetic fragrance oils can reproduce the scents of flowers and herbs, but they have no aromatherapy value.

7.    Handmade soap helps maintain healthy skin.

Our skin, the largest organ of our body, is incredibly porous and absorbent. How we treat our skin can significantly impact our overall health and how our skin looks and feels. Not only can our natural soaps help improve your skin, but they can also reduce itchiness, dryness, and so on. Time and time again, our customers have told us that it has improved their lives by alleviating skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne. Some people with sensitive skin may not have sensitive skin at all. Your skin reacts to the chemical irritants of soaps and other skincare products. Plain handmade soaps tend to be more soothing for many skin types.

8.    Handmade Soap Provides Rich Lather Without Synthetic Foam Boosters

People love bubbly bubbles. We associate a soap's cleansing power with its lather volume, but this is a misconception. Soap doesn't have to make a lot of lather to do its job. The high lather is a vital attribute of any commercial cleansing personal care product, as retail brands profit from meeting customer demands. The suds, foams, and lathers of commercial liquid and bar soaps, as we know, synthetic foam boosters, foaming agents, detergents, and other surfactants create them.

These chemicals, often petroleum by-products like sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), are very cheap to add to personal cleansing products and can dry out your skin considerably. Natural ingredients like coconut oil, castor oil, and the natural GlycerinGlycerin it contains also contribute to the rich, silky lather. The creamy, smooth lather of natural handmade soap is much richer than commercial soap.

9.    Natural Soap is Economical

Some consumers are fed up with the cost of handmade soap. You're probably looking at a natural soap bar and wondering why it's more expensive. I mean, soap is soap. Both bars clean the skin. So commercial soaps may be cheaper, but when you add in the price of all the creams and lotions (also packed with chemicals) you have to apply to your dry, itchy skin, what's the cost? Is it not? Handmade soap may be more expensive, but they have many benefits for your skin. Natural soaps are made with higher-quality ingredients.

Start with natural and organic oils and butter. The fragrances added to our natural soaps are purely botanical essential oils and do not contain fragrance or "nature-identical" oils. Natural soap colours are made from natural juices, teas, spices, plants, or clays, not synthetic mica or dyes.

10.         Natural Soap Has a Smaller Environmental Impact

Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve recognizes that our actions significantly impact the world around us, and we have always strived to be different. We want to be better. I find it strange that the products we use to keep our bodies clean do the exact opposite for our environment. Bathing or showering with commercial "soaps" and detergents coats your skin with synthetic compounds such as fragrances, dyes, preservatives, and detergents.

These chemicals must go elsewhere, many of which don't break down naturally. They flush our wastewater into septic tanks and water treatment plants. Studies have shown that these chemicals often find their way into our water systems and accumulate in ecosystems. These chemicals can affect wildlife, from fish to birds, natural leaves to flowers. Our soaps are made with organic ingredients. Organic ingredients mean organic farming, which is better for the environment. Improve environmental quality by protecting land and groundwater from pollution, promoting sustainable resource use and soil and water conservation.

11.         Handmade soap is unique.

We have handmade soaps and haven't invented anything new. But we know that our natural soaps are made in small batches by people who have both a passion and a mission to make natural products. It is a synergy between science and art that took years to complete. It's a labour of love. I take the time to create healthy soap recipes that don't sacrifice beauty or fragrance and use great natural and organic ingredients.

Commercial soaps are typically mass-produced by companies focused on maximizing profits at the expense of individual skin needs. There is nothing unique about them. Of course, we want our bars to be beautiful, but that's not our focus. Our colours, scents, and textures come from nature. We use certified organic ingredients such as herbs and flowers, vegetables and fruits, sustainable oils and butter, and pure essential oils to create unique soaps that are good for your skin and the planet.

12.         A natural soap company has a social consciousness.

While I'm sure, some sizeable commercial soap companies have a social conscience, natural soap makers tend to have the utmost respect for the planet and its creatures. Environmentally and ethically conscious methods. We use raw materials sourced from

  • We use organic ingredients that support organic farming
  • We are Leaping Bunny Certified - Cruelty-Free
  • Our palm oil and other ingredients are certified sustainable
  • Buy fair trade wherever possible
  • Our products are biodegradable and packed with minimal recycled and recyclable materials.
  • Our packaging is over 99% plastic free.
  • Our natural ingredients add no synthetic chemicals to our ecosystem.

Does Handmade Soap Clean as Well as Commercial Soap?

Handmade soap is a combination of alkali (lye) and oil. Any oil, plant or animal will saponify or make soap when mixed with lye and the water needed to dissolve the lye. In the soap, micellar molecules are formed. These micelles have hydrophilic ends that attract water and hydrophobic lots that repel water. The hydrophilic end loves to get into dirt and grime, while the hydrophobic end wants to bounce back as quickly as possible, lifting dirt and flushing it down the sink.

This molecular structure is the micelle, and soap is the surfactant means to be soap is a natural surfactant. Please do not make any mistakes: Washing your hands for at least 20-30 seconds is the best way to prevent the spread of germs, besides avoiding germs in the first place. Washing your hands with soap and water is better than hand sanitiser. Now let's take a look at the commercial bar. They are synthetic in colours, fragrances, and preservatives. The rest is a combination of soaps and syndets. Some commercially available bars are soaps. If you're asking, "What is synthetic anyway?" Synthetic means the ingredients were created in a lab, and detergents are surfactants. It has a hydrophilic and hydrophobic end to lift dirt and wash it into the sink.
